Double the fun at Somerley festival
A BEER and music festival that began at Somerley Estate near Ringwood last year has more than doubled in size after hundreds turned out for Saturday’s event.
Organisers behind the Somerley Beer and Music Festival say 863 people came to Saturday’s one-day extravaganza, compared to last year’s 380 festival-goers.
Music was performed by Tim Madden, Axel and the Big Wheels, Julian Phillips and the Zucchinis throughout the day and night, and scores of beers, from Hobgoblin to Horizon, flowed from a number of refreshment tents.
Organiser Simon Roundell said: “It was brilliant. We had great music and it didn’t rain. We have had lots of positive feedback.”
Viscount Somerton said the festival raised £464 for Xanthe Carter, who contracted meningitis when she was a baby and then suffered a stroke. Xanthe is now five years old and is severely disabled.
Proceeds from the festival will go towards physiotherapy to help her to walk again.
