A NEW specialist facility for dementia patients has been topped out by Verwood councillor Toni Coombs.
Cllr Coombs did the honours at Oakdene Nursing and Residential Care Home’s new wing, Acorn Lodge, at Three Legged Cross.
From November, Acorn Lodge will offer dedicated nursing and care to residents who have been diagnosed with dementia.
Cllr Coombs conquered her fear of heights to reach the roof joists and|hammer a yew bough to a joist, in|a traditional ceremony that marks the completion of a building’s top floor.
In November North Dorset MP Robert Walter will take time out from his Westminster duties to visit Three Legged Cross to officially open Acorn Lodge to residents.
