Lions offer adventure to young travellers
6:00pm Monday 10th September 2012 in News By Miranda Robertson
YOUNG people are being sought to have the experience of a lifetime, courtesy of the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Lions Club.
The club is looking for anyone aged between 17 and 20 who lives in the area who would like to take part in its International Youth Exchange Programme for next year.
The closing date for applications is September 30.
Each year the Lions International Youth Camp and Exchange Programme enables thousands of young people to learn and understand more about different cultures around the world.
Applicants will be interviewed to determine their suitability, as they will be acting as ambassadors for the UK, their town and the club.
Anyone interested can find out more at ringwoodandfordingbridgelions.org.uk , where an application form can be downloaded and printed.
Exchange visits last between three and six weeks depending on the country or camp chosen.
All costs for accommodation, food, scheduled internal travel and visits in the host country will be met by the Lions organisation.
Applicants will be expected to fund their own international travel, travel insurance, visas, camp fees (not all camps charge a fee) and spending money.
Lions club president Barrie Richardson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to safely experience life in another country and make new friends from around the world at an International Youth Camp of their choice.”
Anyone interested in helping with this or any of the other projects being operated by the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Lions Club should contact members through the website or on 0845 8335819.
