Be a chorister for a day
CHILDREN who want to try their hand at being a cathedral chorister can go along to upcoming open days.
Salisbury Cathedral is holding its Be a Chorister for a Day sessions starting in November.
Children in school years 2 to 4 can try out the chorister life, including rehearsing and singing alongside the cathedral choir.
Director of Music David Halls said: “I am trying to reach families with musically talented children who are not aware of the opportunities being a chorister at Salisbury Cathedral offers. For many the first step is about breaking down the mystique and myths surrounding chorister life. “Our choristers are ordinary children from ordinary homes who happen to have a talent for music.”
For further details and an application form email chorister.recruitment@salcath.co.uk or call 07587 826622. The closing date for returned application forms is Friday, November 9.
A voice trial workshop will be held on December 8 with boys’ trials on January 19 and girls’ trials on February 2.
