A PHOTOGRAPHER who originally comes from Fordingbridge and attended Burgate School has had his work introduced to Princess Anne.

David Bailey, who jokes that he has no connection to the other, slightly more famous David Bailey, is the current Welsh Wildlife Photographer of the Year having moved to Wales eight years ago.

He is self-taught in photography having previously worked in engineering, and turned professional six years ago, specialising in Welsh wildlife.

Since winning the Wildlife Award he has been invited to work with wildlife projects throughout the UK including red squirrels and beavers. His next project is photographing the red deer rut in the autumn.

More recently he has been asked to photograph events, working for television, magazines, and recently Tesco, working with known faces from television, film, sport, beside members of the Royal family, Princess Anne and Prince Charles.

He said: “It’s a real skill how they deal with people whom they have never met before, always knowing what to say.”

Mr Bailey’s work can be seen online at davidbaileyphotographywales.co.uk , and he is happy to give talks.
