Granny annexe plan turned down

PROPOSALS to build a granny annexe alongside a farmhouse in Teffont Magna have been refused by Wiltshire Council and a planning inspector.

Mr and Mrs E Waddington appealed against a Wiltshire Council decision to refuse plans for the additions to a new farmhouse at Manor Farm, which has been given planning permission.

Inspector Edward Grace said: “I consider the disproportionate size of the annexe together with the accommodation it contains and its arrangement as a separate wing to the main house would result in a farmhouse that is not of a scale commensurate with the established functional requirement of the holding.”

He also said the plans show an annexe that “would be eminently capable of being severed and occupied as a separate dwelling when the need for it no longer exists”.
