Man denies murder charge

A SALISBURY man is facing a murder charge after a man he attacked in the city centre in 2007 died three years later.

Adam Stuart Cross, of Brown Street, attacked Joseph Starzacher in a post-pub street brawl in July 2007.

He was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and handed a life sentence with a minimum term of six years in January 2008.

Mr Starzacher, who was left in a vegetative state, died of pneumonia in August 2010 and Cross, 33, now faces a charge of murder.

He has pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set for March 14 next year at a hearing held at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.

Cross was remanded in custody.
