THE youngest member of Salisbury Model Flying Club is reaching new heights – soaring to success in a recent contest.

Matthew Telfer, 13, beat competition from eight other clubs at the annual scale fly-in to earn second place and a silver cup.

He has made rapid progress and gained the British Model Flying Association’s A and B certificates, which enable him to fly at displays where the public are present, such as the recent Bygone Days event at Gorley.

To achieve the awards Matthew, from Alderbury, had to demonstrate a range of aerobatic skills as well as knowledge of aviation law and safety procedures.
