AWARD-winning landscape designer Cleve West is to give a talk to local horticultural societies about Horatio’s Garden, the innovative new garden he has designed at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre in Salisbury.
A six-time RHS gold medal winner who was awarded Best in Show at RHS Chelsea in 2012 and 2011, Mr West is one of the UK’s leading contemporary garden designers and will talk about his early career and how he came to be involved in Horatio’s Garden.
Named in memory of 17-year-old Horatio Chapple, who died in August 2011 and had volunteered at the Spinal Treatment Centre, Horatio’s Garden will give patients a place of tranquillity and beauty to enjoy while being treated. The garden will also enable horticulture to be used as part of patients’ rehabilitation therapy.
Organised by Four Villages Horticultural Society, Bourne Valley Horticultural Society and Laverstock Gardening Club, the talk will take place at Glebe Hall in Winterbourne Earls on October 5 at 7.30pm. All profits will go to support the future of Horatio’s Garden.
For tickets, which cost £12 and include refreshments, call Chris Donaldson on 01980 611183.
