New vicar for Mere

Carol Wilson-Barker Carol Wilson-Barker

MORE than 200 people celebrated the installation of a new priest at St Michael’s Church in Mere.

Reverend Carol Wilson-Barker was installed as the priest for Mere, West Knoyle and Maiden Bradley, at a traditional service conducted by the Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, last Thursday. Parishioners and representatives from parish councils and schools came along to welcome Rev Wilson-Barker.

She was ordained in Truro Cathedral in 2003 and served as a curate in the Godrevy Team in Hayle, Cornwall, for four years before becoming a team vicar at Hale in 2007. A group of visitors from Rev Wilson-Barker’s former parish of Hale with Badshot Lea in Farnham, Surrey, also went along to the service.
