SAS hero and bestselling author Chris Ryan was signing copies of his latest book at Salisbury’s Waterstones store on Friday.

Ryan, the only one of an eight-man squad to escape during the Bravo Two Zero mission of the first Gulf War in 1991, and his first work, The One That Got Away, was based on that experience.

The latest novel, Osama, explores the idea that Osama Bin Laden was not killed by American forces but was already dead when they entered his compound. “It seemed to me like a good basis for a conspiracy theory,” says Ryan. “It is fiction but it is as realistic as possible.”
