New suite at hospital

PATIENTS who need intensive treatment for rheumatic diseases such as osteoporosis and inflammatory arthritis will benefit from a new fully equipped infusion suite at Salisbury District Hospital thanks to a £2,500 donation from the League of Friends.

Some patients need frequent and lengthy treatment which would previously have been carried out in a cramped area in the main rheumatology department.

Patients who need this form of treatment can now enjoy greater privacy in their own dedicated area with comfortable seating and more sensitive lighting and decoration.

Dr Richard Smith, consultant rheumatologist, said: “These improvements will make a real difference to the quality of care we can provide for our patients and we are very grateful to the League of Friends for their support and generosity.

“The treatment and facilities we are now able to give our patients has improved greatly and initial feedback has really been very positive.”
