Foodbank needs more supplies

A SALISBURY foodbank is urgently asking the Salisbury public to help replenish their shelves after a busy summer has meant it is running “worryingly low” on stock.
The Trussell Trust foodbank is in desperate need of key items such as tinned vegetables, pasta sauce, long-life fruit juice and tinned rice pudding.
It is asking schools, churches and individuals to donate tins at two supermarkets, which are hosting collecting points, this weekend. Salisbury foodbank manager Louise Wratten said: “The shelves in the foodbank warehouse are looking extremely bare, so this supermarket collection could not come at a better time.
“With the help of supermarket customers, as well as the forthcoming Harvest period, we’re hopeful that we won’t run out of particular types of food so that we can continue giving out nutritionally balanced food parcels to people in crisis in the Salisbury area.”
The foodbank will be collecting non-perishable food from the public at Waitrose on Saturday while the Wilton Co-op will also host a collection point on Friday and Saturday.
The supplies help provide three days’ emergency food to local people in crisis.
