THE chairman of a Wiltshire-based charity is celebrating her 70th birthday and retirement by holding a fundraising pool party.
Irene Kohler, the chairman of the Board of Trustees for Swan Advocacy, is hoping the event, in London, will raise as much money as possible for the charity, which is involved in helping people recently diagnosed with dementia.
She said: “Advocacy is really important to support people who, through disability, age or mental health problems, find it really difficult to speak out for themselves: it makes a great difference to the lives of so many vulnerable people.”
A team from the Swan Advocacy Network, called the Wiltshire Cygnets will undertake a swimming challenge on October 7 where 70 swimmers will undertake relays to achieve 70 lengths in order to raise funds for the clients of Swan.
