CHILDREN at Mere School are enjoying a new after school archery club.
The club, inspired by the success of several local archers at the Olympics and the World Field Archery Championships, is one of 17 after school activities on offer, and is already proving popular.
Coach Gloria Mead, who also runs Mere Archers, is a former British champion and currently manages the British Field Archery Team, as well as coaching the schoolchildren.
She said: “Several former Mere School pupils have gone on to enormous success in archery, which has shown the children what can be achieved. Archery gives everyone the chance to shine.
“When children who don’t normally do well at team or ball sports find a sport like this at which they can excel, it’s great for their confidence.”
