A PRIMARY school in Salisbury has been awarded the International Schools Award. Bemerton St John School received the British Council accolade in recognition of the global dimension in its curriculum and its links with overseas schools.
Headteacher Alun Richards said: “Schools have to complete at least seven projects, across a range of year groups and subject areas. “Ours included the strong link with the Loire Valley, Fairtrade themes, the Olympics, Mexico and Africa.
“Future plans include re-establishing the link with Khethamahle Primary School in South Africa and establishing a link with a school in India.”
On Friday, the school held an international language day which saw parents who speak another language, coming in to read a story, teach phrases and show a number of artefacts relating to the language and country.
