COMMUNITY-minded supermarket workers have completed a project to overhaul gardens to be enjoyed by the public.

A team from Waitrose in Ringwood, Helen Fooks, Anita Boston, Garry Weaver, Richard Field, Ciara Sammutt and Jane Scarisbrick, pulled up their sleeves to revamp the outside areas at Greyfriars community centre last Friday.

And they got all the work done, despite getting soaked to the skin for their troubles.

One of the workers, Helen Fooks, said: “Despite the rain we had great fun. The tractor was kindly provided by Richard, Val Rake’s partner.

“He delivered three loads of wood chip to Greyfriars for us.”

The staff helped a group called Man Friday to clear away weeds and overhanging branches and spread wood chippings to smarten up the area.

Now they are hoping to work with several other projects in the town.
