A SALISBURY graphic designer who scaled the highest mountain in Africa has raised £3,275 for Help for Heroes.

Phamie MacDonald of Rampart Road, was part of a 23 strong team, including two injured servicemen, who took part in an 11-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Miss MacDonald, 39, said: “I chose Mount Kilimanjaro as I knew it would be a tough challenge and I proved myself right but the sense of achievement and fantastic team spirit made it a once in a lifetime achievement for me."

“The scenery, kinship with my fellow trekkers and the physical and emotional limits I pushed myself to will stay with me forever.”

Miss MacDonald, who recently left her job as studio design manager at Help for Heroes to concentrate on writing children’s books, is hoping to raise £5,000.
