MEMBERS of Salisbury United Reformed Church in Fisherton Street recently concluded the celebrations for their 350th anniversary year with two events.

A special service of celebration was held in the church, when friends from Salisbury Methodist Church were welcomed, along with Salisbury’s MP John Glen.

Members were delighted to welcome the Reverend Dr Michael Jagessar, the moderator of the general assembly of the URC as the preacher at this special service.

After the service an informal lunch took place followed by the opportunity for a question and answer session with Dr Jagessar on topics concerning the Church, such as ecumenism and same-sex marriage.

The final event of the celebrations was a drama presented by the church’s drama group, the Progress Players. Scenes from the history of the Salisbury church were reenacted.

A full account of the history of Salisbury United Reformed Church is still available in the book A City Church by Fiona Crowther. It costs £8 and can be obtained by emailing fionafcrowther@hotmail.co.uk.

Members of the church look forward to continuing their presence in the city and welcome anyone who wishes to join them for worship at 10.30am each Sunday.
