THE last meeting of the Salisbury Bonsai Society was a talk and demonstration by Itelo.
He showed some of his ‘wrap around’ trees, which were magnificent.
Itelo showed us how to cut a groove in an old piece of wood. A sapling was selected and pushed into the groove and securely tied into place. The sapling was then trimmed and thinned, to produce an impressive ‘old tree’.
At the same time, Malcolm root-trimmed three trees from different sources, thereby showing the differing degrees of root growth.
Members were given the chance to pick the pot to be used. It was a fun and informative evening.
The members who went to the Bonsai Nursery in Holland returned having enjoyed the visit and with new supplies.
Our next meeting will be a workshop on April 7 in Laverstock Village Hall at 7.45pm.
Bring your trees and we will help you with training them. All are welcome.
