MEMBERS arriving for the annual meeting could not miss some of the achievements of those who had taken up willow craft recently - two very tall garden obelisks and a very artistic and well constructed platter.

We are promised more sessions in May for those who became inspired. There will also be a further course on food hygiene tomorrow from 9.30am to noon in the village hall.

It was an evening of remembering events of last year. We thought of two of our oldest and most faithful members: Mary Penny, a member from age 14, and Joan Moore, a faithful member over many years and a previous president and often treasurer. Both had died at the end of 2013.

Two others will be much missed: Margaret Henley, who retired with Rector David in the New Year, and Shelia House who has been a hard working member but has moved to another area of Wiltshire with husband Ken.

However, we have gained a number of newer members in the last two to three years, and we congratulated Joan Nichols, who won the skittles trophy.

After the report of all our many activities during 2013, the business of elections for this year followed, and Sue Fry was again chosen as president.

While the new committee had a short planning meeting, the rest of us did a difficult quiz and enjoyed a glass of wine with some lovely bread and cheese.

Next year’s programme begins on April 16 at 7.30pm in the village hall with Gluten and Wheat Free Diet - Your Choice. Visitors are always welcome.

And don’t forget - nurture those tender seedlings for the plant sale on May 17.
