CATHOLIC churches in Salisbury have recently donated £7,000 to local and overseas charitable projects.

Locally, a grant was made to The Bridge Youth Project. This is a Christian charity which works in primary and secondary schools giving young people the opportunity to explore the Christian faith.

Overseas, a donation was made to the Place of Mercy and Hope in South Africa to fund the ongoing work of the Sisters of Mercy.

A further donation was to EdUKaid to support its work in Tanzania. The Downton-based charity seeks to improve the educational prospects of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children in the poor, rural Mtwara region of Tanzania.

In particular the funds will be used to provide facilities for children aged four to six at Mkangala Primary School.
