THE annual meeting held on Wednesday, April 9, was very well attended and enjoyed.

The afternoon began with president, Patricia Cousins, welcoming everyone and leading the singing of Jerusalem.

A report was given by each of the leaders of the sub groups, and the Flower of the Month trophy was presented to Marion Lewins and the Denman Bursary to Gloria Henderson.

After the treasurer, Sandra Pearce, had presented the financial statement and budget, the annual report was read by the secretary, Val Reynolds.

During the year, a large amount of money was raised for several charities, particularly by the Knit and Knatter group, as well as the most successful fashion show, masterminded by Gloria, which was featured in WI Life.

The report was adopted and clearly showed that we have had a very busy, active and interesting year.

We were then introduced to Jim Pearce, who had kindly agreed to bring along his clarinet and saxophone together with a selection of songs from the shows to test our memories, by way of a quiz.

Most people could sing along but could not remember which show they were from, but it was nevertheless very enjoyable.

Val Reynolds will be president for the coming year.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 14 at 2.15pm at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall.

The speaker will be Richard Ratcliffe with his talk entitled It Won’t be Alright on the Night.

The trading table will be plants.
