AS part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the Harnham Community Sports and Social Club hosted a gala event at its clubhouse on Saturday, April 19. Eighty guests were treated to an evening of entertainment over a gourmet dinner.

The evening began with an introduction by Knocker – aka Dave Warren, former chairman and long time supporter and fundraiser, who welcomed members old and new to the event, with special introductions for those who had formed the first committee.

Adger Brown, entertainer and friend of the club, provided the cabaret and there were speeches from elder statesmen and past committee members which charted a history of the growth of the club from its earliest times to the thriving local community club that it is today. The dinner began what will be a year of celebration for the club.

Club secretary Sarah Safe said: “It was a pleasure to welcome many older members of the club to the dinner on Saturday and to reflect on the hard work and effort that has resulted in the establishment of the club, and to see so many new members who are willing to take the baton on and to work towards making the club an even greater success story within the Harnham community.”
