THE May meeting was held on May 14, at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Hall.

Our newly elected president, Val Reynolds, after welcoming everyone to the afternoon, thanked Patricia Cousins, retiring president, for all her hard work and input during the last three years.

Birthday posies were presented followed by the normal business, which included a request from the Minister for Bees, Lord de Mauley, to show our continued support for the WI resolution of three years ago, Save Our Honey Bees.

Everyone agreed and signed a petition to be forwarded. Reports by members on recent visits to the cathedral and the Denman Wiltshire Weekend were most favourable while future outings and events were brought to our notice.

During tea, Rosemary Pugh, who is to be our link group delegate to the national annual meeting in Leeds, in June, led us in an interesting discussion of the resolution on increasing organ donation.

The result was a positive vote for support which Rosemary will give on our behalf.

The speaker for the afternoon was Richard Ratcliffe on It Won’t be Alright on the Night.

Richard has been a professional actor/singer for more than 46 years during which time there have been many occasions when things were not ‘alright’. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 11 at 2.15pm at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall.

The speaker will be Jennie Sherborne, with her talk entitled Give us this Day, based on a true story she has written. Copies of her book will be on sale.
