THE president Marion Wardell welcomed members and a guest, Christine Keenan, to the annual meeting.

We were voting on this year’s national resolution, which is about organ donation and was supported by members. Marion Wardell thanked members for organising the events and activities during the past year and for starting to organise various trips and other events for the coming year. These include a possible visit in the autumn to either Hilliers arboretum or Westonbirt.

The Christmas shopping trip this year will be to Winchester, and there will be the usual lunches and curry nights.

This year is our 90th birthday and we will be holding a party on June 21 when Teresa Burningham has arranged for a peel of the church bells at 6pm. We learned that Elizabeth Wade has attended every birthday party since 1964.

Reports from the secretary, treasurer and the president were all read out. Marion Wardell was re-elected as the president for the coming year. Sue Jones and Wendy Parsons were standing down from the committee and Jill Garnett from the role of secretary.

The new secretary is Rose Ellis and the two new committee members are Alison Comlay and Rona Andrews.

Forthcoming events include a curry night at the Emperor of India on July 15, Durrington Village Show on July 20 and an outing to Chichester on August 5.

The next meeting is on June 3 in the Robinson Room at the village hall.

The speaker will be Chris Allen on the topic of One Day Woodcraft.
