MEMBERS of Amesbury Evening WI met on a warm May evening at Antrobus House and welcomed several visitors to their meeting including the speaker for the evening, Lynda Warren, who gave a most entertaining talk on A Funny Way to Make a Living.
She told us about her career working in both theatre and television providing props and sourcing interesting locations. She was warmly thanked by Bridget Duff.
Following a break for refreshments, the usual business was dealt with, including the results of a recent street clean, the forthcoming fashion show and arrangements for the carnival entry.
Members were also looking forward to the group meeting and learning about Bletchley Park.
For this meeting the competition was an acrostic poem using Bletchley Park.
Wendy Tucker’s entry was selected to represent Amesbury Evening.
Members also agreed to provide the refreshments for the autumn council meeting to be held in October at the City Hall.
Birthday posies were presented and the raffle drawn before the meeting closed.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month and new members are always welcome.
Next month’s speaker will be Claire Skinner on Extraordinary Wiltshire Women.
