AT their recent meeting, the Wilton Historical Society was given a talk on the history of the Mary Rose by retired diver Bill Moore, who was accompanied by his wife Merle.
As well as describing the history of the warship and events leading up to its sinking, Bill recalled his involvement in underwater work on the wreck during 1979/80.
He continues to support the Mary Rose Trust with fundraising events and the making of replica objects to accompany them.
This month’s talk is entitled Ladies of the Tower and will be given by Tony Strafford, a retired yeoman warder and raconteur.
It is on Monday, July 21 at 7.30pm at Wilton Community Centre.
The society meets every two months on the third Monday of the month, and non-members are welcome.
