JUNE was a memorable month for Laverstock Evening WI when members celebrated 25 years since the group was formed. At a supper party held at River Bourne Community Farm, more than 40 members welcomed special guests Isobel Acott, chairman of Wiltshire WI, WI adviser Jenny Coates and Jo Pearson, who organised the inaugural meeting in 1989, along with guests from other institutes.

The celebration cake was cut by Isobel, along with president Jill Kay, who made the cake. Members drank a toast to the continued success of the group, and were given engraved pens to mark the occasion.

The marquee was decorated by members of the committee, and Carol Curtis arranged the beautiful roses on the tables.

A photograph was taken of the past presidents and various photographs and memorabilia were on display. Graham Budd, saxophonist, provided the background music.

The Scrabble team was successful at the county final in Bromham, and Val Fallon, Alison Hall, Heather Roberts and Margaret Scamell were presented with engraved tumblers. The South Wiltshire Biennial Quiz was also won by a team from Laverstock WI and we congratulate Chrystabel Lambert, Thea Marriner and Jenny Watmore on their success.

The next meeting is on Monday, July 21 at 7.45pm in the village hall when Michael Bowyer will be giving a special flower arranging demonstration.
