THE Wilton & District branch of the RNLI held its annual garden party in the garden of Wilton House by kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke.

The 100 guests enjoyed a beautiful warm evening in this fantastic setting. It was a happy party which raised more than £1,750 for the lifeboats.

Ray Stedman, chairman of the branch, said: “We are very pleased to welcome old and new friends to the party, and I am particularly grateful to Geoff Cluett for his fantastic donation of £500.”

Geoff has recently completed an Atlantic crossing in his yacht Concerto.

His passage was sponsored by friends and raised money for the RNLI along the way.

He set guests a competition to identify the national flags of the 35 countries he had visited. The winner, Tony Lunt, recognised 26 flags correctly.

As usual the Salisbury Sea Cadets did great work serving the food and looking after the guests.

This year Wilton is raising money for the new lifeboat station at Swanage.

The next fundraising event will be a coffee morning on Thursday, November 13 at Wilton Community Centre.
