SHAULA Crabtree welcomed us all to this month’s meeting.

She was delighted to tell us that once again we were winners of the town council trophy for best Senior Walking Group at this year’s Amesbury Carnival.

She thanked all who had participated. Thanks were also given to those ladies who did this year’s Walk for Wards.

Shaula then read us the report from the National Conference, this year held in Leeds.

Our speaker was Lin Miles from Boscombe village, an enthusiastic horticulturalist who opens her own garden to the public.

She was asked to talk about gardening and interpreted this by giving a presentation and showing us pictures which were taken on a gardening holiday she organised to Suffolk and Essex.

There were some lovely displays of flowers and shrubs in beautiful settings.

After a break for refreshments, we were asked by the National Federation to complete a survey that will help them become more effective.

The monthly raffle was drawn, the winner of the monthly competition was announced and posies were presented to those who were celebrating a birthday this month.

Our next meeting will be at Antrobus House on August 14 at 7pm.
