MANY people set out to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. It is something both young and old can achieve if they are very fit.
Only about half of these climbers reach the summit. At the August meeting, Peter Roberts described how he made a successful ascent of Kilimanjaro. He was accompanying a friend, Linda Gaitskell, who is totally blind. With the help of Peter and a guide, she too made it to the top. Both Peter and Linda were doing the climb in aid of Parkinson’s UK.
At the start of the meeting, Malcolm McBain spoke to members about Salisbury’s status as a Purple Flag city where people can expect to have a safe and enjoyable night out. He had recently attended a meeting of the steering group and invited others to do the same.
