A FLOWER and hobbies show is being welcomed by Whiteparish Garden Club on Saturday.

The annual show opens in the Memorial Centre at 2.30pm but entrants can register their items on Friday evening between 6pm and 7pm.

Raffles and tea will be served all day.

Entry costs 50p.

A FOUR-day beer festival is being held at The Fountain Inn, Whiteparish.

The annual festival, which will see a variety of beers, bands and food on offer, starts on Friday and ends on Tuesday.

REDLYNCH Horticultural Society is holding its 33rd annual show on Bank Holiday Monday.

Redlynch Village Hall will be showing a wide range of exhibits which include vegetables, flowers, cookery, handicrafts, photography and winemaking, with 19 awards to be won.

The show opens to the public at 2pm and prize giving is at 4pm. Refreshments are provided.

A FOOTPATH for walkers in Alderbury is complete.

Village councillor Richard Britton will be unveiling the path on Crockford Green on Tuesday at 12.30pm.

A REFURBISHMENT project at Hale Village Hall has got the go ahead after the management committee secured funding.

The hall, which was built in the early 1930s and was last renovated in the late 1990s, is having a variety of improvements made after being awarded grants through different organisations.

The work will see a new gas boiler, water heating system, emergency lights and fire alarm, windows, entrance doors and more fitted.

Jacqui Hartas, who has been busy applying for funds over the past year, said: “Villagers of Hale really value our hall which is in daily use by different groups of all ages, undertaking all sorts of activities. It is a thriving hall and the hub of our village.

“Local people have also been very generous by joining in fundraising activities and making gift aid donations.”

WILDLIFE gardening and ponds were the subject of discussion during a talk Ray Broughton gave to Alderbury Gardening Club last month.

Organiser Sue Potter said: “I would like to thank Rosemary Nicolls from the Gardening Club for arranging this very practical gardening demonstration.”
