ENTRIES are needed for Tisbury carnival.

This year’s carnival is on September 20 and it could be the last unless the event is better supported.

People interested in entering can pick up an application form from Tisbury Motors or contact Valerie Rideout, one of the organisers, on 01747 870478.

MERE and District Chamber of Trade is running an emergency first aid at work training course on September 8.

The chamber is running the one-day course from 9am to 4.30pm at the Prince of Wales Club in Mere.

Participants will receive a certificate valid for three years.

Places for chamber members are £66 and non-members are £86.

ENTRIES are being welcomed to the Mere Gardening Club Show.

The event takes place on September 6 at Mere Lecture Hall. Organisers are looking forward to a bumper number of entries and a glorious display of fruit, vegetables, flowers and arrangements. The special category this year for families is a “plant a welly” competition.

THERE will be a Big Weigh In event of gardening club members’ potatoes this Saturday in Mere Square at 11am.

TODAY is the last opportunity to take part in the Tales of Robin Hood event at Old Wardour Castle.

Take up your bow and arrow and join the merry band of men as they weave tales of the legendary hero.

The event is on from 11am to 5pm.

TICKETS are available for a concert at All Saints Church in Farley next Friday at 7.30pm.

A Feast of Richard Strauss is being performed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The programme includes The Four Last Songs, Horn Concerto No 1 in Eb, op 11, and The Violin Sonata, with soprano Diana Vivian, Fiona Brockhurst playing horn, violinist Bill Benham and pianist Edward Reeve.
