SATURDAY August, 30 saw the return of Laverstock Gardening Club’s annual show with more than 150 entries being made in the 32 classes, all displayed in Laverstock Village Hall.
Despite the record high temperatures and then heavy downpours throughout summer, exhibits were shown in every class, keeping the judges very busy. This year, a new class was added for six fuchsia heads displayed on a black stand, which proved to be very popular with 13 entries.
Prizes for the cookery classes were well deserved with entries for Bakewell tarts and florentines reaching double figures.
Chairman of the show Mary Reardon said: “Well done everyone, I am very proud to be involved in such a great club.
“Needless to say, but thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make it a success again”.
Mrs Reardon was also winner of the Silver Salver with 28 points. Magaret Eyres and John Mesure came in at joint second with 27 points each and Julie Dennis took third place with 26 points.
