IT has been a busy year for the association, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015.

The next event is the monthly drop-in Rendez-vous which takes place tonight in the lounge at the White Hart Hotel. All are welcome any time between 7.30pm and 9pm.

The chairman has visited Saintes this year and held a number of meetings that it is hoped will lead to a variety of events next year and to further links being established.

Among activities the association has supported and facilitated so far this year have been visits to Saintes and the surrounding area by Salisbury Cathedral choristers, by 80 members of Salisbury Area Young Musicians, interactive visits to Salisbury schools including Greentrees Primary, St Joseph’s and Leehurst by students from Saintes, as well as Stonehenge landscape photographs by members of Salisbury Camera Club.

The year-long artefact swap between Salisbury Museum (Stonehenge items) and Saintes archaeological museum (Roman artefacts) has now ended and the loans safely returned to their lenders.

Plans are in hand for a busy anniversary year which will include a visit by the Mayor of Salisbury, a 25-strong group of cyclists visiting Salisbury, and members of Salisbury Motorcycle & Light Car Club riding to Saintes. They will be met at St Malo by Saintes bikers.

The association’s annual barbecue took place on a balmy evening during which new members were welcomed. It was kindly hosted once more by Louise and Ian Whetstone.
