THE society’s annual exhibition was held at Morgans Vale and Woodfalls Village Hall.

The theme of the exhibition was Redlynch Parish 1914-18: on the Friday evening the children of Morgans Vale School performed songs and poetry of that time and then looked at the exhibits as did MP John Glenn. The exhibits covered agriculture, local industry, post offices, pubs, WI, as well as the ever popular local photos and maps. Margaret Melsom had researched recipes of the time and the more successful, Anzac biscuits and trench cake, were available to sample.

A room of the time was assembled on the stage with various artefacts and furniture by Carolyn and Malcolm Birch, whilst a large display by a team of villagers on the men who served and the role of pigeons in WW1 created a lot of interest. Three men who may be eligible for the local Roll of Honour were identified and many queries were received for help in researching relatives of that era.

After a total of seven open hours, over 350 people had passed through the doors and most had stayed for a considerable time; judging by the compliments received this was the most successful exhibition of recent years.
