THE Sarum Morris AGM was held at Salisbury Rugby Club.

The squire’s report highlighted the various events and activities that Sarum Morris had performed at during the year. The performances by Sarum Morris are always to a high standard which is enhanced by the cleanliness of the ‘mostly white’ costumes.

The treasurer’s report detailed the income and expenditure of the side during 2014. This continues to show a healthy balance to enable us to support local charities. This year we presented cheques to three charities – Lucy’s Days Out, the Richard Overall Trust and the Osteoporosis Society – to a total value of £900. It was agreed to keep the annual subscriptions unchanged and to spend some additional funds on the recruitment of potential new members – dancers and/or musicians – and the repairs needed to our replica of Hob-nob, the Salisbury Hobby Horse, to enable us to continue to display him at events in and around Salisbury.

The meeting finally looked at the events we should be attending during the remainder of 2014 and 2015 including performances of our Mummers Play at various locations leading up to Christmas.

We will plan to hold our annual Morris dance workshop in February 2015 at Coombe Bissett village hall and our annual weekend of dance in and around Salisbury will be held at the end of July 2015.

Sarum Morris now commences its autumn/winter practice season every Thursday evening from 8pm until 10pm at Salisbury Rugby Club, Castle Road, Salisbury.

Why not come along and give it a go? We are a friendly and sociable group of people who enjoy a good time with lots of music and dance: see sarummorris.co.uk for details.
