OUR president Marion Wardell opened the meeting and, after welcoming several guests, she introduced us to Clare McNaughton, who spoke to us about her life as A Modern Military Mother.

She has written a book called Tales from the Domestic Frontline, which she brought along with her.

Her husband is a pilot and often away from home and her talk was full of humour and told of the ups and often very funny downs of bringing up children in a military environment.

The meeting continued with forthcoming events.

We have a curry night organised for later on in October, a Christmas lunch in November and a Christmas evening meal in December which is set to take place at the Holiday Inn in Amesbury.

We also have a shopping trip to the Christmas market in Winchester in December.

Members brought along food items for the Trussell Trust which will be delivered to them soon.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, November 4, at 7pm in the Robinson Room at Durrington Village Hall.

The speaker is Maureen Hinton, who is talking to us about Traditional and Victorian Christmas Flowers.

Why not come and join us? You would be very welcome.
