THE new president John Powell has settled well into his role, bringing some new innovations to the club’s meetings including a club song which opens each meeting to the apparent pleasure of members.

The song will be performed publicly for the first time at the forthcoming Christmas luncheon, which is being held at the High Post Golf Club, to which members’ wives and partners are invited.

The president was delighted to welcome three new members at the last meeting, namely Roy Bexon, John Clipson and Roger Phillips, who bring the total membership to over 60, and on behalf of the members he also congratulated club member John Taylor on his recent marriage.

The club has had a variety of speakers this year, most of whom are local, talking on a wide range of topics including Modern Gamekeeping and Estate Management by Tim Weston, Warhorses: Romsey Remount Depot in World War One by Phoebe Merrick and Climbing Kilimanjaro Blind by Peter Roberts.

Other club events being planned for 2015 include an outing to the Railway Museum at Swindon and a half day visit to the historical Britford Church which may date back as far as the 8th century.

The club meets in the Salvation Army Hall on the first and third Friday of each month and has a few vacancies for new members. Anyone interested in joining should contact the secretary Eric Ralph on 01722 324911 or email eric.ralph@btconnect.com.
