MEMBERS served cream teas from May to September at the River Bourne Community Farm and also helped at the Churches Together event held there in September. The catering team served lunch to the guests at the county meeting at the City Hall in October. The Scrabble team won the Wiltshire trophy, which was presented by county chairman Isobel Acott.

We have recently learned how to arrange stunning floral displays, heard how greetings cards have evolved over the decades, and had first-hand experience of life on board the Royal Yacht Britannia from Lt Cdr Mike Hall, who served for two years in the 1950s.

In October, as the planned speaker was unavailable, we enjoyed various quizzes organised by Maureen Smith, and a modern variation of a ploughman’s supper was served to each table.

The apple pie coffee morning was very successful and the next few weeks promise to be just as busy. October saw the start of the quiz season – one of our teams won the event at Redlynch and we have entered a team at the Cancer Quiz at the Godolphin School in November.

At the next meeting in the village hall on Monday at 7.45pm, Annette Williams will show craft ideas for Christmas.

Visitors will most welcome – more details from Jill Kay on 01722 323407.
