DURING the past year we have held various raffles in aid of the charity Help for Heroes and members were pleased to welcome Lt Col Neil Coatsworth as their guest speaker and present him with a cheque for £140.
As the area coordinator for Help for Heroes and a serving officer who has served all over the world, he explained how due to the overwhelming public interest, the charity is able to give lifelong support for the physically and mentally injured and their families.
Most of us understand the good work the charity does, but the evening proved not only informative but very humbling.
The bring and buy table also raised £50 for Children in Need.
There is no December meeting but there are still some places left for the Christmas dinner to be held at The Forester in Donhead St Andrew on Friday, December 12.
Happy Christmas to you all and we look forward to seeing you on January 15 at Fovant Village Hall at 7.30pm, when the guest speaker will talk about medieval clothing, entitled No Knickers!.
