President Elizabeth Cutter opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the Radnor Hall, including a new member, Joyce Burton.
Most people were wearing colourful festive hats. Kay Friel provided a beautiful floral arrangement for the president’s table.
A new microphone and sound loop was in use. Details of all the interest groups are on the diary. The Gardeners next meeting is on February 5. Heather Marrison read out details of forthcoming local events, plus the visit to Adam Henson’s farm and the holiday to Norfolk. All federation and national events are in the WI magazines.
Linda Cox gave the treasurer’s report.
Diane Crump’s beautiful home-made Christmas card won the ACWW competition. A huge pile of gifts had been donated for Morning Star, our local charity.
During the coffee break there was a raffle, a bring and buy table and an amusing competition identifying committee members from their baby photos. Pam Trubshawe was the winner and was presented with a pack of Jelly Babies! Then followed a Christmas quiz, which was won by Heather Marrison and Sue Amey.
After that everyone sang Christmas Carols, led by Gill Swatridge – followed by mulled wine, mince pies and sausage rolls. A most enjoyable meeting! Thanks to all who organised it.
The next meeting is on January 12 when Denise Mitchell will talk about Volunteering in Nepal. ACWW is a photo of a Snow Scene.
Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2015!
