TWENTY members attended the December meeting held in Dinton Village Hall. President Sue Taylor welcomed everyone to the meeting, which took a slightly different format to the usual monthly meeting as it was the Christmas meeting, so seasonal activities and a buffet lunch had been planned.

Members had brought a variety of foliage and decorative materials and proceeded to make an interesting variety of Christmas table decorations.

Vice-president Jan Moore also provided members with a good selection of quizzes.

Members then enjoyed a buffet lunch provided by Bernadette Walters, with Jan Craft helping her in the kitchen.

After lunch the Christmas table decoration entries were judged and first place went to Jan Moore, second to Julia Paterson and third to Jackie Taylor. The meeting ended with all members being offered a gift from Santa’s sack.

The previous week around 20 members had attended a cookery demonstration at the new Waitrose Cookery School. The recipes, demonstrated by Sarah and Clare, were an Asian-style seafood salad, Moroccan-style filo swirl and a seasonal cranberry and apple crumble. Members had the opportunity to taste the dishes, and were given recipe sheets.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, January 14. Steve Oakes will give a talk on Magic Bird Migration.
