MANY members attended the AGM and among many topics discussed it was decided to keep the annual membership fee at £10, which continues to be very good value.
Chairman Colin Iles gave notice that this will definitely be his last year in this position, so the club is actively looking for someone to fill his impressive shoes!
The remaining committee members agreed to serve for another year but support is always being welcomed from our other members.
Programme secretary Sue King outlined plans for the coming year beginning with the meeting on January 22, when Mr Simcox will give a talk on Plants and Gardens of Sweden and Iceland.
The whole programme is an interesting and varied one, particularly the meeting on March 26, when Jim Stephenson, one of the club's Garden and Hobbies Show judges, will provide hints and tips on exhibiting at the show in August.
After the meeting, members enjoyed a drink and a fine selection of delicious finger food.
On Thursday, December 11 a tree was planted in memory of Kate Roberts on the Memorial Ground.
This was purchased from Landford Trees and is a Malus Zumi Professor Sprenger (crab apple).
This was chosen for its all year round interest.
Kate was a special person and a very hard-working member of the Garden Club for many years, and is sorely missed.
Please note the January meeting of the Garden Club will be held at 7.30pm on Thursday, January 22, at All Saints School, Common Road.
