THIS year is a very important milestone in the history of the WI because it marks 100 years since the very first meeting was held.

There will be celebrations held throughout the year and The Wiltshire Federation will hold a special day at The Wellington Academy, Tidworth, on Thursday, April 2 to mark the centenary.

Our ladies have been asked to present their performance of Through the Ages and so at our meeting on January 14 we were treated to a preview of that performance which we are sure will be a great success.

We are looking forward to the New Year lunch, which will take place on Wednesday, January 28 at Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Hall, 12.30 for 1pm. On Thursday, February 12, the Sideshoots group are planning a visit to Kingston Lacy to see the snowdrops. We now have vacancies so would be pleased to welcome any new members.

The February meeting will be on Wednesday the 11th, at 2.15pm in the Morgan’s Vale and Woodfalls Hall. The guest speaker will be Jane White who is a “Hatter” and who will show us how she designs and creates her hats. She will also advise anyone who brings along a ‘troublesome’ hat as well as demonstrating the art of fascinators while helping us all to attempt to make one.

Jane will be bringing the necessary materials to achieve this so we can all produce a ‘Centenary Fascinator’!

Trading Table: Hats, scarves, jewellery.
