SARUM DFAS will feature a lecture on The Magna Carta as part of the 800 year anniversary of its sealing.

It promises to be a stimulating session and new members and guests are welcome.

The title of the lecture is Everything You Wanted to Know About Magna Carta But Were Afraid to Ask and it will be presented by historian Dr Caroline Shenton.

This lecture explores the Great Charter that is the cornerstone of our constitution – the materials it was made from, what its political purpose and importance was and the depictions of it in art through history.

Finally, there will be a brief consideration of the buildings where the four surviving originals of the 1215 Magna Carta are held today.

The lecture will be held at 11am on February 10 at the Methodist Church in St Edmund’s Church Street.

Full details of this and other Sarum DFAS upcoming activities can be found at sarum dfas.org.uk.
