It's been a very busy few months for our group with Christmas dinner and party, demonstration on cake decorations by Beverley and a line dancing evening with Corinne Liken and friends. She invited members to take part in some dances which they thoroughly enjoyed although their lack of experience in half turns, twists and direction changes resulted in frequent collisions.

This month Maggie welcomed our speaker Clare Macnaughton, who gave an interesting talk about her experience of life as A Modern Military Mother, reading passages from her book to illustrate the various points. She was thanked by Maggie then, after coffee and cakes, we discussed WI centenary events and the making of the banner to represent our branch of the WI.

Members were shown the beautiful paintings of Old Sarum and Salisbury Cathedral, produced by member June, which will form the basic design for the banner.

Jenny gave a report of our finances and fundraising activities were discussed. Irene brought us up to date on WI matters and activities and it was decided that some members would attend the performance by The Mikron Theatre Company in Salisbury to celebrate 100 years of the WI.

Our next meeting will be on March 4, when Dorothy Whittle will give a talk on Grow it, Cook it.

New members are welcome to join us, 7pm at the Scout Hut, Stratford Road, Salisbury.
