MEMBERS of Amesbury Evening WI met for their meeting on a damp May evening, but in the beautiful upper room at Antrobus House.
Our Speaker for the evening was Mr Kenneth Warr who gave a most entertaining and informative talk on ‘Fifteen Years as a TV Journalist’, taking some members right back to the early days of broadcasting they would have maybe remembered, the days before ‘instant’ news and media coverage. Many of the situations were highly amusing, disguises including becoming removal men in order to set up a news clip that would eventually go around the world! He was very warmly thanked by Anthea Turner.
Following refreshments, business was quickly dealt with. Various events had taken place including a Fashion Show at Edinburgh Woollen Mill at Wilton Shopping Village and the Stonehenge Group Meeting with further events in the near future, including the Amesbury Carnival in June and a Centenary event arranged for September.
We meet on the second Thursday of every month and welcome visitors
