PARTY-GOERS danced the conga around The Meadows in Coldharbour Lane at the end of a day of fun and festivities.

The Salisbury Neighbourhood Jubilee Picnic featured a variety of games ranging from giant snakes and ladders to face painting, and a crown and hat competition.

Organiser Diane Williams said: “People kept coming through the whole day, it went really well.

“We were rained on early on but everyone brought umbrellas.

“A lady involved with the silver jubilee told me the weather was a bit inclement then which meant they had to be inside the scout hut but their party still culminated in a conga around the field at the end so we thought we should do one as well.”

She added: “We had lots of help: the scouts put up our gazebos and lent us some urns, we had lots of sponsors make donations, my daughters were involved with face painting and my husband helped too – it was a family affair.”

Steph Beattie said: “We had a lovely time, everybody brought things to share and there was lots of community spirit.”
